Running field test
In the CTS training program there are these periodic events called 'Field Tests' which are 8 minute maximum efforts in the run, bike, and swim which are used to fine tune the heart rates that you train at during the different interval sets. Today I did a running field test. The HR profile looked like:
I was able to cover 1810 meters in the 8 minutes which works out to a 7:07 mile which is my fastest to date. I treated this as I would a race, warmed up, stretched a bit, then let it rip!!
The average HR for the interval was 175 with a max of 192 which is slightly higher than my average HR for the 5 miler I did last weekend (race average was 187).
