65 mile ride and short run
Met up with Jim, Dan, Raphael, Chris, and Karen in Holyoke. The plan was to rip up to Northampton and meet up with the 30 and 50 mile loops gong out of there. The ride to Noho is about 7.5 miles, all took good strong pulls and we ended up getting there in 19 minutes at an average speed of 23.7 MPH.
The 30 and 50 mile rides departed togther for a bit then split apart, on the 50 it was Kevin, Jim, Raphael, Agnes, and myself. As we departed our speed slowly ramped up to 24 over 40 minutes or so. Nice pace with all taking time at the front. Headed into Greenfield and back to Northampton through Hatfield. Coming around a sweeping left turn over a bridge I flatted. Thought that the tire was going to roll off the rim. We stopped and changed quick quick and then back to it. When we arrived back in Noho we learned that Patty had crashed on the 30 mile ride, hard. She buzzed Chris's back wheel and went down. 2 broken wrists, and some head / face lacerations. Hopefully she will bounce back quickly and be riding again soon.
Kelly had gone to the hospital with Patty so Jim was not joining us back to Holyoke. Raphael and I headed back at a light to medium pace. When we got back to the car I stowed the bike, and went for a quick 17 minute run because we all know that if you don't run, it doesn't count!!
Distance: 65.2 Pace: 19.1 Average HR: 143
