Recovery ride - Run
Monday started cold and stayed windy pretty much all day. Jill, myself, and several other members of the team did a 20 mile recovery ride to keep the rust off after Sunday's race as well as a 30 minute recovery run.
The proper clothing choice ended up being:
- Shorts
- Light tights
- Jersey
- Arm warmers
- 1/2 finger gloves
- Wind vest
Even so, by the end of the ride my toes were numb. I don't think that it was cold enough for booties, but the old grocery store plastic bag in the shoe trick probably would have been the kick ass remedy.
Today was supposed to be a rest day; but I'll have plenty of time to rest when I'm dead. Actually I know that I will have to take Tuesday off as I have to have oral surgery to fix the result of March's over the handlebars episode. The rest of the broken tooth will be extracted, as well as a bone graft performed and the placement of the implant metal root. I get to enjoy that for 6 months while the metal root fuses into my jaw, then a permanent crown can be affixed. The terrible part is that insurance is not covering it... What really gets me is that if I were to grind down 1 tooth on either side and get a bridge it would get paid for. Now why in the world would I want to wreck 2 perfectly good teeth? Makes no sense in my humble opinion, but then again a lot of people think that roads are for cars only....
