Long workout weekend
Awesome workouts this weekend. On Saturday Jill and I rode with 2 other people from the team out of Longmeadow, we ended up getting 45 miles in at a brisk pace. Many good pulls were taken with much cowbell in the backs of peoples minds. Several kick ass hills as well had the thoughts of Michael Rasmussen in this head anyway. 85 degrees and sunny made it hard to figure out nutrition and hydration requirements and how to get them in with the strong pace. I certainly did not get enough fluids in me during the ride and really felt it on the subsequent run. About 1.5 miles into the quick pace my right quad cramped up just above the knee; very frustrating. I started out too fast, and when I hit the first good incline as well as the too little fluids was a recipe for disaster. Walked it out for a bit then did the dejected recovery run around the flats and then back to Courtney's house.
Cruised up to Maine on Sunday to chill out, take the kids swimming, and do a bit of outlet store shopping.
Jill and I ran together on Sunday, and separately Monday over rolling roads with scenic ocean views. Very cool. Then back home on Monday evening.
Struggling with getting my heart rate up these last few days. Runs over the weekend maxed out at 167 BPM up a gnarley hill, perceived effort was a 7-8. That's ok, I'll take the low HR workouts too!!
